Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

The Journal of Culture and Tourism (JCT) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. The journal strictly prohibits plagiarism in any form.

Plagiarism occurs when an author uses the ideas, words, data, or work of others without proper acknowledgment or citation. This includes copying text, figures, tables, or research findings from other sources without appropriate credit.

Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Culture and Tourism (JCT) will undergo plagiarism detection using reliable plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin, iThenticate, or similar tools before entering the peer review process.

The acceptable similarity index should not exceed 20%, excluding references and properly quoted materials.

Forms of Plagiarism

The journal considers the following as plagiarism:

  • Direct plagiarism: Copying text word-for-word from another source without citation.

  • Self-plagiarism: Republishing one's own previously published work without proper citation or permission.

  • Mosaic plagiarism: Mixing copied phrases from multiple sources without proper attribution.

  • Improper citation: Failure to properly acknowledge the original sources of ideas or information.

Editorial Actions

If plagiarism is detected, the editorial team will take appropriate actions depending on the severity of the case:

  • Minor similarity: The manuscript will be returned to the author for revision and proper citation.

  • Moderate plagiarism: The manuscript may be rejected and returned to the author.

  • Severe plagiarism: The manuscript will be rejected immediately, and the author may be banned from submitting to the journal for a certain period.

If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal may issue a correction, retraction, or removal of the article in accordance with ethical publishing standards.

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism before submission.

By submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Culture and Tourism (JCT), authors confirm that their work complies with the journal’s plagiarism policy.
