Publication Ethics

The Journal of Culture and Tourism (JCT) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement of publication ethics is based on the guidelines and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

This policy outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

Duties of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to the Journal of Culture and Tourism (JCT) must ensure that:

  1. Originality and Plagiarism
    Authors must ensure that their work is original and properly cite or quote the work and ideas of others.

  2. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
    Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.

  3. Acknowledgement of Sources
    Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given.

  4. Authorship of the Paper
    Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study.

  5. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
    Authors should disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.

  6. Errors in Published Works
    If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they must promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.

Duties of Editors

Editors of the Journal of Culture and Tourism (JCT) are responsible for:

  1. Publication Decisions
    The editor is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published based on the validity of the work and its importance to researchers and readers.

  2. Fair Play
    Editors evaluate manuscripts based solely on their academic merit without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, or political beliefs.

  3. Confidentiality
    Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.

  4. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
    Editors must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for their own research without the author’s explicit written consent.

Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers assist the editorial team in making editorial decisions and improving the quality of manuscripts.

Reviewers are expected to:

  1. Confidentiality
    Treat manuscripts received for review as confidential documents.

  2. Objectivity
    Provide objective, constructive, and professional feedback to authors.

  3. Acknowledgement of Sources
    Identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.

  4. Conflict of Interest
    Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.

Ethical Oversight

The journal strictly prohibits:

  • Plagiarism

  • Data fabrication or falsification

  • Duplicate publication

  • Citation manipulation

If ethical misconduct is suspected, the editorial board will investigate the case following COPE guidelines. Actions may include manuscript rejection, article correction, or retraction if necessary.
